Moving right along into 2010

I thought I should update seeing as it is a new year. No new things to post yet, but I am semi working on building/designing/altering a jacket to go with my brown bustle skirt for A-Kon in June. But I really want to get it done in time for a Dr. Who themed event that will happen next month when a friend of mine will be coming south to DJ at. Yay for knowing the DJ! heh. Anyway, for the jacket I picked up a generic McCall's pattern which I will be modifying in order to fit what I have in my minds eye. I agonized over certain parts for about a month and a half before going to a friend for advice, and well, Guy helped out nicely! So tonight I cleared off my desk and started to cut out the original pattern and set up the tracing paper to make the 'new' pieces for the ones I have to change up. Outside of the coat will be the same brown brocade, and the inside I am thinking that gold taffeta that I used for the pants to go with it. *grins* I can't wait for it to be finished! And I really need to invest in getting a fabric marker so it's easier to draw on the fabrics before I cut things out! Fabric pencils are kinda eh if you have limited space and to have a bigger space are forced to do it on carpet!

Anyway, depending on how this turns out I might make a green jacket to match the green bustle skirt (though I will probably use it for another outfit then the 1 I wear that skirt with!).

I've also been debating making a third bustle skirt, but while i found some awesome colored lace when glancing about the fabric store last month, I could only find 1 brocade that color matched it...and the pattern to me was HIDEOUS! So I put the lace back where I found it and got my arse outta there before I decided to try to buy something else. Sides, I don't have anything that would go with that awesome burgundy color right now anyway!

On a non-project note, still having money issues (boo!) but that seems to be a constant in my life. *sigh* But at least before the new year hit I dropped the guy who was causing me the most grief like the bad habit he had turned into and moved forward. Still single, but, there is a man who has caught my eye and is receptive enough to satisfy me for now. I also have a few other guys trying to chase me, but well, I'm either not attracted to them physically, or they come across as more of the lost puppydog types I can't stand more then a month at best because they are too freakin needy! Still working the movie theater, still shakin my butt at the club....not much else has changed. *shrug* For now I'm not overjoyed, but I am a lot happier with things right now then I have been in a long while.

And on that note, I am thinking i need to make a trip sometime in the near future to a thrift store and see what all I can dig up that will work with the steampunk stuff! Common budget gimmie some spare cash to play with!
